God has not promised sweet beds of ease,
Flower-strewn pathways,
Fresh cooling breeze.
Neither has He promised no sorrow or pain,
Perfume without myrrh,
No heartache or strain.
But He has promised grace for the day,
That He will be with thee
Every step of the way.
