Valeda C. 'Gravelle' Chartier Obituary (1916

Valeda C. Chartier, age 95, of 78 Will Rogers Drive, Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Adirondack Medical Center. Born in Carson Mines, Ontario on November 29, 1916, she was the daughter of Alex and Dorina (DesJardin) Gravelle. She married Joseph Clayton Chartier on February 7, 1938. She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton, and two sisters Laura Gravelle and Yvonne Rivers and an infant brother. She is survived by two sisters, Irene Spreeman of Oregon and Lucille Crago of Pennsylvania, one son Ronald Chartier and his wife Mary of North Carolina, one daughter Judith Chartier and her spouse Barbara Ryan of Bloomingdale, NY, 2 grandsons, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends.She lived most of her life in the Watertown and Adirondack Mountain region, enjoying outdoor activities including cross country skiing well into her seventies. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. At Val's request there will be no services. Friends wishing to remember Valeda C.
