Malone, New York
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of a truly remarkable man, Roger J. Prue, 79, of Malone, on September 16, 2026. Born on January 29, 1947, in Malone, NY, to the late Vilas and Mayfred (Thomas) Prue, Roger was a beacon of ambition, creativity, resilience, and generosity, a man whose love for life was only surpassed by his love for his family.
Roger was an aspirational figure, never one to back down from a challenge. He approached life with an infectious enthusiasm, inspiring all those around him with his spirited determination. His career as a Tree Trimmer was testament to his resilient nature. Roger retired from Asplundh Tree Service in Malone after many years of dedicated service. His creative flair found expression in his hobbies, which ranged from fishing to antique cars and toys collecting, to camping and building things with his hands, including a home. His home, which he built himself, is a testament to his innovative spirit and tireless work ethic. A member of several clubs including the Malone Callfiremen, Malone Moose, and Local Union 1249, Roger was a dedicated participant and was deeply invested in his community.
His generosity knew no bounds. Whether he was giving his time to the Malone Fish and Game Club or sharing his love of antique cars with others, Roger was always willing to lend a hand. He was a faithful man, attending church every Sunday until his health prevented him from doing so, at which point he continued to follow the services on television. Above all else, Roger was a family man. He loved his wife, Debrah Prue, whom he married on May 11, 1968 in Brushton with Fr. Shue officiating, and his daughters, Pam (Robert) LaBrake of North Bangor, and Annie Jo (Nicole Jock) Prue of Brushton, with an intensity that was truly awe-inspiring. His sister-in-laws, Patricia Prue, Sue Rabideau, and brother-in-law Robert Martin, will also remember him fondly.
Roger now joins his parents, Vilas and Mayfred Prue, his brothers, Phillip, Rodney, Donald Prue, and his son, Christopher Prue, in eternal rest. Their reunion, though bittersweet, is a testament to the enduring bond of family.
Funeral service will be held privately at Frary Funeral Home in Malone. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery Brushton.
We invite you to share your precious memories of Roger and upload photos to his memorial page. Your tributes will serve as a comforting reminder of the indelible mark he left on our lives. Condolences may be made online at www.fraryfuneralhome.com.
