Muriel Ada Silverthorn

Muriel Ada Silverthorn, age 85, of Ogdensburg, NY, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse, NY. Per her request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Ada was survived by her children, Gaylen Otter of Port Byron, NY, Martha Thomas of Wynantskill, NY William Riley of Memphis, TN, Dan Smith of Circleville, OH; and Patti Johnson of Mooers, NY; a brother, Pat Riley of Jay, NY; her companion, Fred Rice of Ogdensburg, NY; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Muriel was born on June 29, 1937, in Peru, NY, the daughter of the late Vernon and Martha (Sears) Riley. She graduated from Peru High School in 1955. Ada married Ira A. Silverthorn on March 17, 1984. He predeceased her on December 8, 2000. Muriel was employed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany, NY, until her retirement.

Muriel enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and watching criminal shows.
