Ogdensburg, New York
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Harold Yerdon, a devoted father, grandfather, partner, and friend, who passed away on August 7, 2026, at the age of 74.
Michael was born on January 5, 1952, in Ogdensburg, New York. He graduated from Tupper Lake in 1970 and married Sandra L. Blood in 1971. Although their marriage ended in divorce in 1985, they remained friends throughout the years.
Michael was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to build, fix, and figure out just about anything. He worked at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center (SLPC) for 34 years, beginning his career as a porter before moving into the Mechanical Maintenance Shop, where he later became a supervisor. He retired from SLPC in 2007. Prior to his years there, Michael worked as a truck driver for Missert’s and at Collins Ford.
But work was only one part of Michael’s life. He was happiest outdoors and had a lifelong love of hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, hiking, and, in his younger years, downhill skiing. He loved tinkering, rebuilding things, and working with his hands. He was a member of the Black Lake Fish and Game Club, the Moosehead Hunting Club, and the Heuvelton Pistol Shooting Club.
Some of Michael’s favorite places were his hunting camp on Chandler Pond and his fishing camp on Fish Creek, where many memories were made over the years. Those who knew Michael knew that he wasn’t one for a lot of fuss, but he had a heart of gold and cared deeply for the people in his life.
Michael is survived by his loving partner, Kaye Facey; his children, Kenneth Yerdon, James Yerdon, and Dawn Yerdon; son-in-law Dave LaRose; and half-brother Timothy Wilson. He is also survived by Stephen Wilson’s companion, Renee Brabant, and niece Ashley Wilson.
He leaves behind his grandchildren, Alexander Gagnon, Dominique Yerdon and his partner Cortney Morehouse, Dylan Crowder and his wife Kimberly, Kaleb Ashley, Trenton LaRose, Kadence Yerdon, Brooklynn Joanette, Jayce Yerdon, Logan Yerdon, Josh and Emily Facey, Tara and Cody Woods, Jacob Facey, Chad Facey II, and Cylee Facey, as well as his great-grandchildren, Wyatt Yerdon, Athena Yerdon, Ryleegh Crowder, Carter Crowder, Blakely Woods, and Boone Woods.
Michael was predeceased by his father, Harold Yerdon; his mother, Theresa (Decare) Wilson; his stepfather, Richard Wilson; and his half-brother, Stephen Wilson.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. at his camp, located at 41 D Young Road, Hammond, New York. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather with us to share memories, stories, laughter, and friendship as we remember and celebrate Michael and a life well lived.
In keeping with Michael’s way, this isn’t goodbye. As he always preferred to say:
“So long.”
We invite you to leave your memories and upload photos of Michael to the memorial page. His life was full of love and adventure, and we look forward to sharing and remembering those times together.
