John J. White

Funeral services for John J. White, 58, of Ogdensburg, will be private. Mr. White passed away unexpectedly at his home early Tuesday morning, July 1, 2025. Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ogdensburg.

John J. White was born on December 3, 1966, in Potsdam, NY, to John and Pauline (Jandreau) White. He graduated from Canton High School in 1985. Following a stint in the United States Marine Corps, he worked for Compass and Mitel, and also pursued careers in general and finish carpentry. On October 7, 1995, he married Terry Tompkins at the Presbyterian Stone Church in Ogdensburg. He enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making, finish carpentry, outdoor activities, camping, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was an avid fan of news and old movies of all genres, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Terry White of Ogdensburg; his daughter, Cheyenne White, and her partner, Riley O'Neil, of Potsdam; his parents, John J. White his wife Donna White of Rensselaer Falls, and Pauline White of Norfolk; his stepchildren, Matthew Tompkins and his wife, Adriana, of Watertown, and Chrystal McGrain of Elmira; his sister, Alyson White of Norfolk; 5 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Blanche Foster.
