Joan A. 'Lamica' Denis

Joan Arlene Lamica Denis was received into the loving arms of her Lord on December 4, 2009. Joan was born in Tupper Lake on March 17, 1932. Joan graduated from Holy Ghost Academy as Salutatorian of her class.

She was married to George Denis at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake on June 2, 1951. Joan was a loving and adored wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Joan and her husband owned the Junction IGA for seventeen years. She was a home health aide for many years and worked at Sunmount DDSO. Joan also worked as a private home health aide up until her death.

She was predeceased by her parents Pearl (Farmer) and Wilbur Lamica, two sisters, Joyce Savage, and Lois LaFountain and two brothers, Irvin "Buddy" Lamica and Arlen "Butch" Lamica.

Joan was a devout Catholic, and she enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her family. She was a fantastic cook and hosted many family dinners. Joan never spoke ill of anyone, and was always there when her family needed her. She had a great sense of humor and always had everyone laughing. Joan's secret to raising thirteen children was reading her bible in the morning and enjoying her glass of wine at night.

Joan is survived by her husband George of fifty-eight years, her son Randy Denis and his wife Theresa of Tupper Lake, her daughter Theresa Perrone and her husband Robert of Cary, NC, her son Greg Denis and his wife Linda of Gansevoort, her son Scott Denis of Potsdam, her daughter Ronni Travers and her husband Jeff of Scotia/Glenville, her daughter Donna Alvestad and her husband Peter of Middletown, MD, her daughter Sue Reandeau and her husband Daniel of Tupper Lake, her daughter Paula Tuthill and her husband Dale of Vermontville, her daughter Rebecca Moeller and her husband Richard of Tupper Lake, her daughter Diane Denis of Tupper Lake, her son Jeff Denis and his fiancé Penny Arsenault of Tupper Lake, her son Steve Denis and his wife Barbara of Tupper Lake, her son Eric Denis and his wife Kristy of Tupper Lake, her two brothers Ronald Lamica of Tupper Lake and Wilbur (Jr.) Lamica of Tupper Lake. Joan is also survived by grandchildren Shawn Denis, Danielle Denis-DeVirgles, Renee Denis, Sarah Perrone, David Denis, Kyle Denis, Casey Denis, Stefanie Travers, Alyssa Hamil, Christopher Alvestad, Benjamin Alvestad, Justin Reandeau, Jessica Trombley, Brooke Reandeau, Cody Reandeau, Karyssa Tuthill, Amanda Moeller, Jacob Moeller, Drew Denis, Claire Denis, Lauren Denis, Kirsten Denis, Hayley Denis and Charlie Denis as well as her great grandchildren, Teagan Denis, Kirklyn Denis, Austin Fortier, Colin Strack, Alana Strack and Kaleb Reandeau.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
