Jeannette Anne Mitchell (McElwain) Obituary (1944 - 2022)

Jeannette Anne Mitchell (McElwain) 77 of North Bangor NY passed away on September 5th, 2022, in Tucson AZ. Calling hours will be held at Frary Funeral Home on September 17th, between 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a small funeral service following at 1:00 PM with Father Ray Moreau officiating at Frary Funeral Home Malone. A celebration of life will be held at Bangor Community Center in North Bangor immediately following the funeral service. Burial in St Augustine's cemetery at a later date. Jeannette was born in Malone NY to Angie R McElwain (LaFlesh) and Maurice McElwain on December 4th, 1944. She went to high school at St Joseph's Academy and graduated in 1962. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in teaching from Plattsburgh State University. She worked as a teacher for Raymond Street School and later went on to work for Malone Central School district for over 30 years. She enjoyed bowling, shopping, cooking, spending time with her family and friends, and going to the casino. She is survived by her three brothers, Joe McElwain of Constable NY, Jay McElwain of North Bangor NY and John McElwain and his wife Linda of North Bangor; her nephews, Shawn and his wife Robyn McElwain, Matthew and his wife LeighAnn McElwain, and John Jay McElwain; her niece, Sherri McElwain; her great nephews, Emmet, Andrew and David McElwain; great nieces, Gracie, Katelynn, Carley, and Lucy McElwain. She is predeceased in death by her husband Barry F Mitchell and by her parents Maurice and Angie McElwain.
