Irene Mae 'Mandigo' Duplantie

TUPPER LAKE - Irene Mae DuPlantie passed away peacefully in her home early Monday morning, March 28, 2016, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness.

Irene was born on July 27, 1932, one of nine children born to Clifton and Louise Mandigo of Conifer. She married Edmond DuPlantie on September 29, 1953 and brought 4 daughters into the world. After working briefly, she returned home to be a stay at home mom to raise her four girls.

Irene was pre-deceased in by Edmond her husband of fifty five years and her siblings Virginia Chapman, Abby Fox, Howard Mandigo, and Robert Mandigo.

She is survived by Mrs. George (Judy) Graton of Tupper Lake, Tena Lanthier of Tupper Lake, Mrs. Russell (Jamie) Clinard of Raeford NC, Mrs. Shane (Bonnie) LaRose of Piercefield. Also by two brothers Clifton and Lee Mandigo, two sisters Roberta Allendorf, and Catherine LaMora. Mae and Edmond had eleven grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren in all.

For years, Mae worked on her arts and crafts, keeping her mind and hands sharp as a razor. She was quick with a snappy comeback, and did things her way regardless of the outcome. She thoroughly enjoyed cheating at any and all games she played, especially when she played canasta with her sisters. She was loved and will be missed.

Friends may call at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake on Wednesday, March 30th from 12 noon - 2pm followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gale cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the High Peaks Hospice.
