Helen Catherine Lynch

–

Ogdensburg, NY

Helen Katherine Lynch, affectionately known as Sonee, was peacefully called home on August 30th, 2024. She is surely greeted at heavens gate by her beloved husband, John Robert Lynch and daughter Anne.

Helen was born on May 16th, 1936 to Ralph and Dorothy Ewart of Ogdensburg, New York. Helen was a 1954 graduate of St. Mary's Academy. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science from the College of St. Rose in 1958. She married John Robert Lynch, also of Ogdensburg on July 18th, 1959 before going on to earn a Masters of Science in Teaching from the State University College at Buffalo in 1962.

Helen is survived by her brother, Joseph Ewart (Kathy) and three sons, Michael (Patti Rowan) of Ogdensburg, Joseph (Dianne Jeneault) of Ogdensburg, and Dennis (Melissa) of Mocksville, North Carolina. Helen has three grandchildren who she loved fiercely; Adam, Emily, and Paul.

A lifelong learner and educator, Helen taught at Ogdensburg Free Academy for many years and later retired alongside her husband. With a servant's heart, she was very active in her community. Helen could often be found volunteering her time and many talents, as well as hosting cards and participating in gardening clubs. The slowest, simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy. She enjoyed a game of cards with her grandchildren, a quiet night in her chair reading or watching the ships go by, and feeding the geese off the dock. She, as her husband, loved her friends and family along the river.

She was the glue that held the family together, the reason we gathered, and the hardest goodbye. She will be remembered as the most beautiful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend that anyone could have ever known.

Donations can be made in her honor to the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club; 610 Patterson Street, Ogdensburg, NY, 13669.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home of Ogdensburg.

A celebration of life for both her and her husband, John, will be held in the Spring. Details will come from the family.
