Darlun Joanne Gillett Obituary (1941 - 2024)

Darlun Joy Gillett, age 83, of Malone, passed away on Saturday night, December 28, 2024 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid. Per her wishes, there will be no services. Burial will take place at the East Side Cemetery in Chateaugay, NY. She is survived by her children, Celine Healey, of Annapolis, MD, Rossiter John Stark Jr., of Indiana, Hilary Stark Auth of Edgewater, MD; her grandchildren, Brenden, Jared, Sebastian, and Logan. She was predeceased by her brother, Paul Perry Gillett; her sister, Lillian Gillett Miller; and her ex-husband Raymond LaVoie. Darlun was born on March 30, 1941, in Chateaugay, NY, the daughter of Floyd O. and Ella Mae Perry Gillett. She graduated from Chateaugay Central School and received her certificate for cosmetology. She married Raymond LaVoie which later ended in divorce. She then married Rossiter John Stark Sr whom predeceased her. Darlun was a dedicated member of the church choir, and she found great joy in tending to her garden, particularly her weekly ritual of caring for her indoor plants. She also loved sewing clothes for her children, creating beautiful, handmade garments. An exceptional cook, Darlun took pleasure in preparing dishes from various international cuisines. Above all, she will be deeply cherished and loved by her family.
