Arthur A. Shattuck

EDWARDS- Arthur A. Shattuck, age 69, passed away on Saturday January 24, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, surrounded by family. As per Art's wishes there will be no funeral services, a celebration of life will be in the spring. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, 33 Park Street, Gouverneur.

Art was born in Gouverneur on August 11, 1956, the son of Arthur and June (Papineau) Shattuck. He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1975. He married Teri Murphy on March 15, 1975, and they had two sons Arthur and Ryan. They divorced in 1987. On May 3, 2003, he married Nancy Donnelly at the Kendra Methodist Church in Rensselaer Falls were Zach Bristol officiated. Art was employed as a maintenance supervisor for Kinney Drugs and retired in 2020.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nancy, his children, Arthur (Heather) Shattuck, Julie (Zach) Finley, Billie Jo Thornhill (Mark), brothers, Mike (Debbie) Shattuck, Eugene Shattuck, sister Bonnie Theriault, sister in law, Johnie Larue, a brother in law, Victor Bigelow, his grandchildren Brooke Shattuck, Nathan Shattuck, Danielle Shattuck, Devin (Ashely) Thurman, Lilly Spooner, Jude Spooner, Brianna Thornhill, and Rayna Cameron, two great grandchildren Griffin and Grayson Matthews, his three best friends, Miles, Hamilton and Gidget. He is predeceased by both of his parents, a son Ryan, a sister, Cathy Bigelow, a brother, James Larue.

Art worked with this father for many years working the well drilling operations. He was a member of the Windy Hill Hunting club. Art was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting, rabbit hunting, four wheeling and taking daily rides with this three best friends Miles, Hamilton, and Gidget.

Art is now with his son Ryan and two of his best friends Eric Wood and Pete Amo.

Memorial contributions in Art's memory may be made to Heuvelton Central School Trap shooting team as he was big into getting youth into hunting and shooting or the Sarah Guest House in Syracuse, NY (sarah'sguesthouse.org) as they help families of hospitalized loved ones with lodging and food during out-of-town stays, so they can remain close during their hospital stay.
